A pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck early Friday on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway near downtown Los Angeles, authorities said. A California Highway Patrol spokesperson said officers received a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian at about 3:59 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway just east of the Harbor (110) Freeway interchange. The crash involved a pickup truck, according to the CHP. Two middle lanes were initially shut down and a SigAlert was issued, officials said. By about 5:30 a.m., only one lane remained closed as personnel from the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office responded to recover the victim’s body. All lanes were reopened at approximately 7:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
