A 24-year-old man died early Saturday in a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles, authorities said. The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. just north of West 51st Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Roberto Gomez. Responding officers found a man dead at the scene, an overturned Lexus ES350, a Chevrolet Camaro with minor damage to its left side, a Toyota Corolla Cross with minor damage to its right side and a Toyota Corolla with minor rear-end damage, Gomez said. Based on the initial investigation, officials said the Lexus ES350 appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the Chevrolet Camaro, then the Toyota Corolla Cross and finally the Toyota Corolla. Gomez did not provide information on whether anyone else was injured in the crash. CHP officers closed southbound lanes 2, 3 and 4 of the freeway and issued a SigAlert that remained in effect for several hours while crews worked at the scene. The collision remains under investigation, according to the CHP.
